The journey begins...
Just a few weeks ago I signed up to climb Mt. Rainier. It's a program sponsered by the American Lung Association of Washington.

Climb the mountain. Make a difference!
“I will climb that Holy mountain in the early hours of the day, let it drain my sturdy body as it may. I have worked long and hard to weave this magic from my dreams and I will not run from it till I’m laughing from the summit.” The Climb – Michael Tomlinson Dear Friends and Family- Greetings! I’m writing to share some pretty exciting news. I’ve just recently committed to join 80 other climbers for the American Lung Association’s Climb for Clean Air on a trek to the summit of Mt. Rainier (14,411ft). This is the 19th annual climb led by renowned mountaineer, Lou Whittaker, which will take place this July. The first challenge I face is building enough endurance to get to the summit of the Northwest landmark known as “the toughest climb in the lower 48.” To prepare for the climb, I’ve already begun a regular schedule of running, stair climbing, and hiking. The second challenge I face is raising $3500 on behalf of the Lung Association. The Climb for Clean Air was founded in 1988 by world renowned mountaineer, Lou Whittaker, to raise funds for the crucial work of the Lung Association and also to heighten public awareness about health and environmental issues related to air quality. Each year, The Climb generates nearly a half million dollars to support goals of reducing tobacco use, preventing indoor and outdoor air pollution, and educating families and individuals living with lung diseases like asthma, lung cancer and emphysema. I’m so thrilled to be participating in this wonderful event but, as is true with so many things that are really worth doing, this can’t be a solo effort! I need your support to help me raise the $3500 donation required by June 1st for participation in the climb. Your generous and appreciated tax deducible contribution to the American Lung Association on my behalf will not only assure my place on the Climb for Clean Air Team, but more importantly, it will help those struggling to breathe easier. ● Go directly to my Mt. Rainer sponsor page to donate using debit/credit at: http://www.cleanairadventures.org/climb_for_clean_air -or- Checks should be made payable to the “ALAW” for Darren Asay $25-$50 How exciting Darren – Good Luck! $50-$100 Are you nuts? Blow a kiss my way from the mountain! $100+ Shazaaam! Send me a snapshot of yourself at the summit! ● Help me spread the word about what I’m doing and mention the Climb to 3 friends. Ask if they’d be interested in sponsoring me. More info at http://www.alaw.org/ It’s scary taking on a challenge like this, but knowing you’re there with me will make it a lot easier. I thank you in advance for believing in this effort for the important work of the Lung Association, and for believing in me. Thanks for any support you can render. Best Wishes, Darren
